Since it first opened for business in 1986, Tops Salon has steadily evolved into the impressive venue that it is today.
The first impression begins at the entrance, with an artistic metal sculpture garden and copper door that welcomes guests inside to a multi-tiered environment. The number of stations has grown from an initial 11 to the present-day 16, with a chic, mirror-themed design that is home to an eclectic mix of stylists and nail artists.
The ambience extends outside, where a covered deck provides the perfect place for clients to relax. This is the entrance to Tops Salon’s unique outdoor setting that presents Cinema Under the Stars, San Diego’s premier outdoor theater. It is also host to special events, private functions and industry seminars on a year ‘round basis.
An ever-changing enterprise, Tops Salon continues to discover new ways to enhance client gratification.
Doug Yeagley
Under the direction of owner/operator Doug Yeagley, Tops has become one of the preeminent salons in San Diego.
He leads one of San Diego’s most creative teams, skilled in hair styling, manicures & pedicures, and nail services.
During his distinguished career, hair designer Doug Yeagley has provided clients with high-level styling services in Hawaii, Oregon, Michigan and California.
One of the keys to his 30+ years of success is communication—the ability to listen to clients and develop a special rapport. The result is a particular look that best suits the client’s personality and lifestyle. He is expert at adding just the right amount of flair to accent a client’s features, accessorizing and personalizing with color.
Consistency is another Yeagley trademark, easily duplicating a cut that ‘works’ for the client—time after time. And if a client wants a new look, Doug analyzes their growth pattern and texture to create a fresh new image.

Founder and creative director Doug Yeagley is the driving force of Tops Salon. Over the years he has built up the salon to offer more personal services— as well as showcasing the work of local artists on a rotating basis— to create a dynamic environment that is constantly shifting the experience for Tops’ guests.
Doug is also a highly-regarded stylist, whose client list boasts a number of local celebrities.
One of Doug’s true passions is Tops Presents, the outdoor space behind the salon that is home to Cinema Under the Stars, beauty symposiums and private affairs.
Doug’s creative vision remains as vibrant as ever, as he continually seeks to develop new images, impressions and exclusive choices for his clients.
Viki DeVan
Viki loves personalized color and cuts. She uses Alphaparf, Italian color, and Alphaparf, Colure, and Enjoy hair care products. Initially trained by Vidal Sassoon, Viki also has advanced training with Alphaparf, Diva Curl, Enjoy, TiGi and Redken. She loves to attend hands-on seminars and classes to stay current. She is certified with Global Keratin relaxer and the Hot Heads extensions program. With 35 years experience, she loves watching hairstyles to continually evolve. Her goal is always to make her clients look and feel great!
Michael Mallory
Michael has been doing hair in San Diego for over 30 years. He is Sassoon trained and a Framesi Color Academy graduate, but what we really want to say about Michael is that, “He loves exceeding expectations.” Give him a try! You will not be disappointed.
Bobby Canizalez
Bobby is a man of many trades. He loves horseback riding, boating, taking his motorcycle out, working on his truck, and taking care of his ranch. But his favorite thing to do is to make people beautiful. He has a wide demographic of clients. He works four days a week and books out very quickly, so make your appointment with Bobby as soon as you can!
Lilia Marrero
As well as being the owner of C Street Salon; Lilia is a graduate of Valley Vocational Center at City of Industry in California. She has a passion for hair, a love for people and customer service, which comes with a 25 years experience. You are in safe hands with Lilia.
She recently obtained a colorist certificate and uses sulfate-free, gluten-free, parabens-free and cruelty-free and 100% Non-GMO products in her services.
Rebecca Long
Rebecca has been behind the chair for 9 years. She loves working on blondes and currently has a lot of blonde clients who she works on and will be fluttering her education in that area. She enjoys doing highlights, lightener touchups, full colors and vivid colors.

Rachel McDaniel
